As your customers gear up for Halloween, give them everything they need to host a Halloween party for all their ghost and goblin friends.
Statistics show Halloween isn’t just for children anymore. While trick-or-treating is still a staple Halloween activity for kids, the number of adults hosting Halloween parties is on the rise. According to the National Retail Federation, in 2006, 85.3% of 18-24 year olds planned to celebrate Halloween (up from 66.8% in 2005), but 76.5% of consumers aged 25-34 and 71.3% of 35-44 year olds were also planning to celebrate.
People are celebrating and willing to spend money on this holiday. Make the most of the opportunity and encourage your customers to come to the meat department for their party food needs.
Provide recipes for pick up foods they can serve for guests to grab while socializing.
An example is the Grilled Salsa Steak Appetizer. This recipe takes chips and dip to a whole new level with slices of beef shoulder top blade (flat iron) steak, salsa, cilantro, guacamole and cilantro piled high on a tortilla chip.
Another is the Beef Kabobs with Parmesan Orzo, tasty Beef Loin Top Sirloin Steak Boneless on skewers with peppers.
But, since a big part of Halloween is about the candy, you might want to have a bowl of candy by the meat case for customers in your store! When they take the candy, offer them recipe cards of these two recipes and tips for their Halloween festivities.
