Gov. Bobby Jindal Uproots Floral-Arranging Tests

Aspiring florists will no longer have to create floral arrangements to be judged by their potential competitors in order to get a state license.

Gov. Bobby Jindal's signature on House Bill 1407 by Rep. Franklin Foil, R-Baton Rouge, ends the 70-year-old requirement that critics said was an unfair restriction on people seeking a career as a florist.

The law went into effect Thursday, when Jindal signed it.
Foil's bill keeps the requirement that budding florists must pass a written exam before getting a professional floral license from the state.
