[June 30, 2010] Spreckels, CA – Growing & Giving 2010 will be hosted at the Tanimura & Antle Headquarters on Thursday, July 29th from 4 to 8 PM. Sponsored by Grimmway Farms, Mission Produce, Naturipe Farms, Tanimura & Antle and Ventura Foods, the event benefits the Produce Marketing Association's Foundation for Industry Talent (PMA FIT), Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services, and Rancho Cielo Youth Campus. &
Developed by McDill Associates, the event provides a forum for companies attending Produce Marketing Association’s Foodservice Produce Expo in Monterey to network with their clients and prospects, while directly supporting organizations that provide meaningful services to members of the agriculture community.
“Grimmway Farms is proud to be a sponsor of this inaugural event. As a family-owned business we are in tune with supporting our agricultural communities and their youth as well as our industry,” said Lisa McNeece, Grimmway’s Vice President of Foodservice and Industrial Sales and PMA FIT Board Member.
All three nonprofit organizations that will benefit from Growing & Giving 2010 have a unique relationship to the agriculture industry. PMA FIT attracts, maintains and develops talent for the produce industry. Jacob’s Heart provides vital services such as financial assistance and counseling to families who have children with cancer throughout the Salinas Valley—many of whom work in the industry. Rancho Cielo Youth Campus, a Salinas Valley ranch that provides education, training and recreation for at-risk youth, is in the process of creating a culinary arts program.
This event provides a networking platform that is ripe with opportunity for the Rancho Cielo and PMA FIT youth involved in the event as volunteers. The event will feature menu items prepared by lead sponsors, live music and a selection of wine and beer. To support the fundraising efforts there will be a silent auction including art, golf package, sunset sail, San Jose Sharks tickets and other exciting items.
