Frieda’s Program Motivates Employees To Lose Weight

LOS ALAMITOS, CA – Employees at Frieda’s Inc. recently completed the 3-month-long weight-loss competition, “Frieda’s Biggest Losers,” as part of the company’s ongoing health awareness initiative. The winning team (“The Leaners”), shown here, lost a combined weight of 52 pounds for a total weight loss of 6.4 percent. Karen Caplan, president and CEO, presented the team with a $300 check. The 2nd and 3rd place teams also received cash prizes.

Eight teams participated in the voluntary competition, and the combined total of all the teams was 253 pounds for a 3.7 percent weight loss.

“Frieda’s Biggest Losers has really brought our employees together with a sense of teamwork,” Caplan said. “Working together in teams makes the challenge of weight loss and healthy eating a lot more fun.”

The Frieda’s Healthy Initiative task force continues to plan and develop additional programs and contests that will foster employee wellness in a fun, competitive environment. Next, the company will begin a pedometer program in which employees will compete for prizes for the greatest distance walked.
