Creativity is funny. Sometimes a great idea comes out of nowhere. But more often, artists and entrepreneurs become successful because they know those ideas are only as good as the work you put into them. They also know that necessity is the mother of invention.
Travis Grillo is one of those people.
In 2007, Grillo was desperately looking for work, and no one was hiring. Except for Nike, oddly enough. But after Grillo spent two months interviewing for a job as a shoe designer, Nike hired an internal worker.
He was done waiting. So he decided to pivot.
