Walkers Adds ‘Thick & Crunchy With Bran’ To Its Healthy Oatcake Range

ABERLOUR-ON-SPEY, SCOTLAND – Walkers Shortbread will add a new higher fiber offering to its range of delicious and healthful oatcakes and unveil fresh new packaging at the Summer Fancy Food Show on June 27-29 at the Javits Center in New York City (booth #2536).

Highlights of the 2010 oatcakes range include:

Thick & Crunchy Oatcakes with Bran: Using a wholegrain bran oatcake recipe with no added sugar and containing only naturally occurring sugars, the new offering includes olive oil in its blend, contains no trans fat and is low in saturated fat.

Highland Oatcakes: Wheat flour has been removed from this crisp and crumbly product, which has no added sugar and contains only naturally occurring sugars. The new oil blend uses reduced saturated vegetable oil has a 34% reduction in saturated fat and the wholegrain pinhead oats have 25% more fiber.

Fine Oatcakes: The improved product has no added sugar and uses only naturally occurring sugars. Its new oil blend reduces saturated fat by 40% and the wholegrain oats have 21% more fiber.

Mini Oatcakes: Wheat flour has also been removed from the new recipe, which contains all wholegrain oats with 30% more fiber. There is no added sugar and only naturally occurring sugars. The new oil blend uses reduced saturated vegetable oil to lower saturated fat by 40%. Mini Oatcakes make stylish entertaining a breeze as their size makes them ideal for snacks or small cocktail canapés with simple or imaginative toppings.

Scottish Biscuits for Cheese: This sampler contains a variety of coarse and fine oatcakes made with the finest quality oats and pure Highland water.

The redesigned packaging for the 10.6 oz cartons features dramatic and appealing product photos, with a selection of toppings to give consumers serving suggestion ideas for these characteristically Scottish crackers. A hint of the unique texture of the oatcakes is given by the little crumbs in the foreground of each image.
