Lancaster, PA – Kegel’s Produce is proudly celebrating 70 years in business! To show appreciation to their loyal customers and the community, they will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, October 17th, between 10am and 4pm. Facility tours will be given throughout the day. Vendors will be on hand with displays, samples, product tastings and demonstrations.
The history of Kegel’s Produce began in 1948, when Earl P. Kegel opened an Engleside building and began distributing produce to stands at Lancaster Central Market and grocery stores. In 1967, the business moved to Lancaster’s Mulberry Street and in 2000, Earl P. Kegel Inc. became Kegel’s Produce.
The current Old Tree Drive location, which opened in March of 2004, provides 105,000 square feet of refrigerated warehouse space. It is home to the Produce Playground, in-house fresh-cut processing rooms, banana ripening rooms and much more. Their many expansions have enabled them to meet customer expectations and continue to ensure satisfaction for their partners in food safety. Updated inventory control, routing and tracking systems accommodate timely deliveries and they continue to work with many local farms, while servicing regional and national customers.
