Meat Packing Plant CEO, Opponents Talk About Proposed Site In Tyler County, TX

TYLER COUNTY — The CEO of a company that plans to open a meat processing facility in Tyler County sent us a statement addressing environmental concerns and other issues raised by opponents. East Texas Packing Company says it plans to open a plant near Woodville. Opposition to the plant prevented the company from pursuing plans to open in Jefferson County and Hardin County.

From East Texas Packing Company:

Danny Stanley, CEO of East Texas Packing Co., LLC, expressed his excitement about bringing this investment and these employment opportunities to Tyler County. “I have lived almost all of my life in Tyler County and am pleased to be able to offer opportunity for growth in my home of East Texas, which is in close proximity to many major cattle markets in Texas. I know firsthand how badly jobs are needed in this community, especially after the closing of the pellet plant and have already heard from many people in this area eager to go to work with us. A lot of money has been invested into the newest equipment and processing methods to make this a clean, well-run operation that benefits the community with much needed well-paying jobs. We are not requesting or receiving any government assistance or tax abatements. This facility has been purposefully designed to fit the needs of Tyler County, and we look forward to being a good neighbor, a good employer, and a growing business in East Texas,” said Stanley.
