La Cañada Flintridge Calif.: One of many acts of kindness planned for 2018, ALC participated in a fundraiser for the past two months collecting shoes and donations for Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls is a non-profit based in Tennessee whose mission is to create sustainable jobs and provide relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Total donations amounted to $1,336 which ALC matched equaling to $2,672. ALC representatives had the opportunity to visit Soles4Souls headquarters with the donated shoes and tour the facilities. "Continuing in 2018, we have committed to completing acts of kindness and we were thrilled to be able to visit the national headquarters of Soles4Souls, bring them donations and meet some of their staff," commented Nora Trueblood, Director of Marketing at Allen Lund Company.
Additionally, at ALC's annual managers meeting as part of a teamwork activity, coordinated by the company TeamBonding, managers got together and decorated adult shoes, children's shoes and tote bags which were also donated to Soles4Souls. Nora Trueblood continued, "Our ALC management team competed to design and decorate shoes which made for a fun and impactful activity making this particular act of kindness especially fulfilling."
Kellen Clawson, Community Partnership Specialist for Soles4Souls also commented, "Since our organization began in 2006, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 30 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries and all 50 states. We are so grateful to Allen Lund Company for collecting shoes and the monetary donation. They are taking action to help us wear out poverty."
