Rancho Dominguez, CA – Santa Monica Seafood held its 11th Annual Supplier Summit on February 20th at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach. Representatives from 150 of their top suppliers were in attendance. In addition to discussing 2017 achievements and growth plans for 2018, awards were given in three categories in recognition of superior service to Santa Monica Seafood in 2017.
The Service Provider of the Year was given to global consulting firm, Alexander Proudfoot, who completed a comprehensive revamp of all areas of operations for the company, resulting in many operational changes improving efficiencies and profitability across the board.
The Innovator Award went to New Zealand Seafoods, based in Vernon, CA, for introducing new product lines in 2017, along with excellent in-field support to the Santa Monica Seafood Sales team.
The 2017 overall Supplier of the Year was Boston Wholesale Lobster Corporation. The company headquartered in Lynn, MA, is one of Santa Monica Seafood’s principal suppliers of Live Lobster. During a difficult year with wild fluctuations in supply and pricing, Boston Wholesale maintained a consistent pipeline of product, and provided valuable insights on market conditions and kept ahead of the game on supply issues.
Roger O’Brien, President and CEO of Santa Monica Seafood said, “Choosing each of our three winners is something our entire Leadership Team as well as our Procurement team put a lot of thought and debate into. We can buy product and obtain services from numerous sources. However, we are looking for Suppliers and Service Providers that have gone above-and-beyond to help us reduce our costs, improve our operations and are desirous of continuing to grow and expand with us. Santa Monica Seafood needs to be the best; therefore, our Suppliers and Service Providers need to be the best. These three winners are just that – the best!”
