WAHOO – Chicken houses for the Costco processing plant near Fremont are closer to being a reality in Saunders County.
The first application for broiler houses will go before the Saunders County Planning Commission Jan. 8 and, if approved, before the County Board of Supervisors Jan. 9.
Mitch Polacek, office manager for Saunders County Planning and Zoning, said Gary Benes of Valparaiso is the applicant and is expected to make a presentation at the public hearing. Benes is applying for a zoning change and conditional use permit that will allow for eight broiler houses.
