La Cañada Flintridge Calif. – On December 16, the Allen Lund Company (ALC) participated in Navidad en el Barrio for the 13th consecutive year, and three years at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP), Los Angeles. Navidad en el Barrio was established in 1972 by Danny Villanueva, former NFL kicker and provides Christmas dinners to underserved families in Southern California. This year's event proved successful serving over 750 families at SVDP plus a total of 15,000 families overall. They were also able to restock two food banks for Catholic Charities.
Kenny Lund, Vice President commented, "It is our pleasure to serve the community and I am so proud of the ALC team, family, and friends for the work they did this past Saturday. As St. Francis taught us, "It is in giving that we receive" and we surely received more than we gave."
The logistics and transportation of the donations were provided by the Allen Lund Company with donations delivered to a warehouse in Los Angeles and then transported to agencies throughout Southern California for distribution to families. The Allen Lund Company greatly appreciates all the vendors for their generous donations and the time and effort put in to make Navidad en el Barrio a huge success. Dayka Hackett, Grimmway Farms, Rainier Fruit, and Wada Farms all provided fresh produce. Coca-Cola, Snak King, Apffels and Penguin Natural Food also came through with donations.
