Pandol Bros. Introduces Innovative Grape Packaging

DELANO, Calif., May 7, 2010 – Leading table grape grower/shipper Pandol Bros., Inc. is introducing a dynamic new package that will deliver greater convenience and time savings to consumers. “This represents a ground-breaking change for the grape category and is directly in line with what time-starved consumers are seeking,” indicates Tristan Kieva, Pandol Director of Business Development & Marketing.

The Pandol “Quick Rinse Cube” is a unique, clear plastic container that is designed to be held directly under a kitchen faucet and allows for thorough rinsing of the grapes. By featuring a “Grab & Go” handle and instructions on the package to “Rinse, Shake and Serve,” the product benefits are simple for consumers to understand.

The patent-pending, clear cube design visibly conveys freshness and quality by creating a beautiful product showcase that allows the grapes to be easily viewed from all sides. Category research indicates that approximately one-third of U.S. consumers cite convenience as one of their top preferences in grape packaging.

For retailers, the “Quick Rinse Cube” offers exceptional visual impact, product differentiation, flexible merchandising and improved space efficiency. The unique design and construction advances the existing grape packaging trend, which is moving towards hard-sided containers to reduce shrink and provide maximum shelf impact.

Pandol has spent one year developing the “Quick Rinse Cube” and engaged a professional package design firm to approach the project from the ground up. Retailer input was solicited at important steps throughout the development.

“The retailer perspective represented a critical component of our design direction,” explains Kieva, “That influence is a big reason why our presentation of the finished package to retailers has been so enthusiastically received. They are anxious to get it on their shelves.”

The new Pandol “Quick Rinse Cube” comes in a standard 2 lb. size and will be available nationwide for the 2010 California grape season.
