Coreopsis Limerock Series Creates Unique High-End Combos
October 25, 2011 | 1 min to read
Along with herbs, the latest gardening trend to catch the eye of consumers is combination pots. But if you really want to offer something above and beyond, a basic petunia basket, and enjoy higher margins as a result, take a long look at the Limerock series of Coreopsis from Blooms of Bressingham®.
Not only do the three colors in the series — ruby red, eye-popping lavender pink and vibrant tangerine — create a striking accent container, their compact, uniform, and heavy flowering nature is unsurpassed for summer-long beauty into early fall.
‘Limerock Ruby’ was first in the series, with 1-1/2″ velvety, true red flowers that are a hot property in gardening circles, each bloom dotted with perky yellow centers. Then came ‘Limerock Passion’, a pinkish-lavender sport of ‘Limerock Ruby’, with the same graceful habit and high octane flower power. Then Passion got into the sporting business, resulting in ‘Limerock Dream’, with flowers that evolve from subtle apricot pink in spring to coppery orange in midsummer.
All the varieties in the Coreopsis Limerock series should be treated as tender perennials, and placed in full sun. Well-drained soil is important, and they’re drought tolerant once established. A light cutback promotes re-flowering into early fall and also helps promote branching.
