Produce for Better Health Foundation’s (PBH) Fruits & Veggies—More Matters® Facebook page reached its one million “Likes” milestone this week, emphasizing its leadership position as a trusted fruit and vegetable information resource. The consumer-focused Facebook page offers relevant, visually appealing posts on fruit and vegetable research and recipes as well as tips and tricks for selecting, serving and savoring produce every day of the year. PBH’s Facebook page caters to a highly engaged audience that shares posts with friends and family; comments frequently; and produces a considerable amount of interaction with PBH’s social media team, as well as the donors who support the organization.
“We seek to deliver an engaging experience through our social media channels. We are listening to consumers as well as food influencers and helping them make fruit vegetables actionable as part of a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, President and CEO of PBH. “In turn, we have earned the trust of an engaged community that is interacting with and sharing the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters® experience.”
Just last week PBH produced its first Facebook Live segment from the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Summit. This video connected followers with five food retail dietitians who shared helpful food hacks for serving up more fruit and vegetables. Within hours of posting, thousands of followers had the viewed the segment on produce favorites. In addition to its Facebook page, PBH also manages Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram pages for Fruits & Veggies—More Matters®. In all, PBH has about 1.07 million followers across its social media channels. This trend will continue for PBH with additional digital enhancements planned in 2018.
PBH debuted on Facebook in March 2007 and has been an industry pioneer in the social space ever since. PBH has integrated fan feedback into all social media efforts, shaping online content. PBH’s social media team focuses on listening to and engaging fans in order to drive popular content such as quick recipes and prep ideas that make it easy to include more fruit and vegetables in their day for better health.
