Port Logistics Refrigerated Services Names Chief Commercial Officer Of Logistics Operations

Tampa, Fla. – Port Logistics Refrigerated Services (PLRS), Florida’s newest full-service perishable logistics company, today announced the addition of Victor E. Gonzalez as Chief Commercial Officer of Logistics Operations, joining Rick Sharp on the business development team for PLRS’ state-of-the-art 130,000-square-foot refrigerated logistics complex located dockside at Berth 219 in Port Tampa Bay.

Gonzalez will partner with Sharp, PLRS’ Chief Operating Officer of Logistics Operations, who provided his expertise on the complex’s design, layout and component mix needed to create the most functional and efficient operating environment for customers, many of whom will be importers and major food brokers and retailers.

“As another 30-plus year logistics veteran, Victor enhances our PLRS team by adding potential new business contacts and improving our ability to serve our customers,” Sharp said. “Victor’s international logistics experience, knowledge of the refrigerated end-to-end supply chain and strong business relationships throughout Latin America will prove valuable as we collectively look to offer customers a scalable, integrated logistics and value-added service for efficiently moving goods in and out of Central Florida’s I-4 corridor and the southeastern United States.”

Gonzalez’s priority will be developing new business for PLRS’ one-of-a-kind, world-class logistics hub, which is located in a Foreign Trade Zone. Through the hub, PLRS will provide customers with unparalleled worldwide access via all transportation modes, including CSX railroad, ocean liner and break-bulk carriers and trucks.

“You can’t have an optimally functioning supply chain without the right solution in the mix,” said Gonzalez on the synergies between the port, rail and logistics business lines. “By leveraging PLRS’ know-how and the new facility, we’ll be able to offer clients a comprehensive and customized one-stop shop logistics solution.”

Gonzalez brings to PLRS more than three decades of experience in supply chain and global perishable logistics. He has a deep understanding of multimodal transportation, supply chain management, warehousing and ocean/air forwarding. He has held various senior positions with many of the world’s leading international logistics companies, including Flagler Global Logistics, APL. and Crowley American Transport. He most recently served as Vice President with Flora Logistics, a perishable logistics company.
