Iowa awarded Tyson Fresh Meats about $2.4 million Friday in tax incentives to help expand a Waterloo pork plant.
The Tyson Foods Inc. subsidiary plans a $28.2 million expansion of its Waterloo facility, which currently employs nearly 2,900 people. The company has pledged to create 245 new jobs, according to state records.
As per its application to the state, those jobs must pay a minimum of $17.29 per hour.
In exchange, Tyson has asked for $2 million in investment tax credits and $396,535 in sales, service and use tax refunds.
