The Allen Lund Company (ALC) recently participated with Braille Institute, Guide Dogs of America, the Wounded Warrior Project and The Penguin Project. Allen Lund Company has a long history of giving back to communities and recognizes the humbling benefits of working together to support good causes.
ALC's IT and TMS departments supported Braille Institute and Guide Dogs of America by putting together a fundraiser offering the purchase of casual dress passes to the employees at headquarters. In the month of July and August, ALC successfully raised a total of $2,300 dollars!
"Guide Dogs of America and Braille Institute provide their services completely free to the blind and are fully funded by donations. One of our teammates, Michael Wilson, has Gyrate Atrophy, which is characterized as progressive vision loss that ultimately leads to blindness. He is a big part of our team and was the first IT support staff hired by ALC. We wanted to honor him by gathering donations," said Keith Curtis, Manager of EDI and Integrations.
ALC Dallas and ALC Logistics once again was proud to have sponsored the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) for the Military Heroes 5/10k Run. WWP serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service and their families on or after September 11, 2001 and their families.
"This year there was $17,000 raised which goes to affiliated groups such as Texas Sentinels Foundation, America's Fund, Patriot Anglers, and 22KILL. Due to Hurricane Harvey most of our crew missed the 5k run this year as all were involved in coordinating hurricane relief for our customers. We were there in spirit in particular with all of the Veterans that participated," said Scott Fletcher, Manager of the ALC Dallas office.
In addition, ALC Grand Rapids supported The Penguin Project. The Penguin Project of Muskegon Civic Theater is a musical theater production that casts children and young adults with disabilities. ALC Grand Rapids office provided snacks for rehearsals, participated in the Labor Day Parade and in addition, funded and organized the Silent Raffle. 100% of the raffle's proceeds go towards the Penguin Project's production of Annie Jr.
These give back efforts are a continuance in celebrating ALC's 40th year in business and at least 40 acts of kindness each year.
