SYRACUSE — Call it East Hill Creamery’s chance to say “cheese.”
During the New York State Fair’s 41st Dairy Day event, 27 awards were handed out for dairy products ranging from hard cheese to sour cream. The winners were announced Thursday.
East Hill Creamery, the artisan cheese company in Perry owned by Gary and Betty Burley, took home first prize for its Underpass cheese with a score of 98 in the Farmstead/Artisan Cow’s Milk Hard Cheese category.
“It’s very exciting,” Betty Burley said.
