Greenhill Produce Greenhouse Plans On Hold In Dawn-Euphemia

Developers of a greenhouse in Dawn-Euphemia Township that could be as large as 100 acres are waiting for confirmation that there will be enough water for the facility.

At issue is the relatively large volume of water that would be required by the Greenhill Produce development and if the pipeline system can accommodate that much flow. The entire township presently consumes 300 cubic metres of water daily from nearby Enniskillen Township, but the proposed greenhouse would require approximately 1,000 cubic metres of water alone for its operations.

A site plan agreement for the greenhouse was brought to Dawn-Euphemia council on Aug. 8, but CIMA engineers recommended that the water system be pressure tested before any further plans are made, said Donna Clermont, the municipality’s administrator-clerk.
