INDIANAPOLIS — The Produce Mom has launched a marketing cohort for school foodservice directors and staff. The cohort is focused on creating captivating marketing plans for National School Lunch Week (NSLW) 2017. All marketing plans created in the cohort promote USDA School Lunch as a nutritious, convenient, and on-trend choice for families. The cohort has a common interest in supporting the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and promoting the under-consumed vegetable subcategories: dark green, red & orange vegetables, and legumes.
The Produce Mom's school foodservice cohort shares best practices through interactive webinars, and an active online community. Members receive text message notifications, newsletters, and access to a community-only forum on The Produce Mom website. Additionally, Lori Taylor, CEO of The Produce Mom, hosts office hours in a web conference room to provide one-on-one support and collaboration to members of the cohort.
Kristin Ahaus, Director of Communications at The Produce Mom elaborates, "We are focused on building communities that are passionate about fruits and vegetables at The Produce Mom. Our newly-launched School Foodservice Cohort is an example of how we adapt our messaging and content offerings to best serve each segment of The Produce Mom's audience."
Content from theproducemom.com, such as the Sage Fruit Smarter Lunchrooms eBook, is utilized to offer school foodservice personnel inspiration in creating new strategies and menu offerings that promote fruits and vegetables to students.
“I send my two children to school each day with lunch money, not a lunchbox.” states Lori Taylor. “I want all moms to have the same confidence I have in USDA school meals. Furthermore, I want school foodservice professionals to know that their work is championed and supported at the highest level within the fresh produce industry. Fresh-form fruit and vegetable offerings in the cafeteria are critical for increased produce consumption among children."
National School Lunch Week is an annual event, sponsored by the School Nutrition Association (SNA). NSLW 2017 runs from October 9th to the 13th and the theme is “School Lunch: Recipes for Success”. Over 200 schools are enrolled in The Produce Mom's school foodservice cohort. As an incentive to participating members of the cohort, select marketing plans will be promoted on the social media channels of The Produce Mom, and The Produce Mom's partner brands.
One of the most popular resources for members of the cohort is The Produce Mom's Smarter Lunchrooms eBook, created in partnership with Sage Fruit.
The eBook features produce merchandising tips for school foodservice, as well as an A-Z guide of Smarter Lunchroom strategies. It is available for free download on TheProduceMom.com
