Potatoes USA Inspires New Deli Salad Offerings

When the Potatoes USA “pizza box” mailer was delivered to the Culinary Director at Sprouts Market earlier this year, it inspired him to develop a new “gold standard” potato salad for their stores. Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. is an expanding grocery store offering fresh, natural and organic foods with nearly 300 stores throughout the U.S.

While the team at Sprouts knew they wanted to have a new fresh potato salad available for the summer season, they didn’t know where to start. After receiving the mailer, their interest was piqued and they requested Potatoes USA guidance. The Potatoes USA team met with the team at Sprouts for a 1:1 ideation session in their kitchen.  We provided them education about the various types of potatoes and conducted a demo on how to use them. We also shared a few “gold standard” recipe formulations developed specifically for Sprouts.

As a result of this meeting, Sprouts recently launched two new potato salads – The Corner Classic and The Southern Tater. Both salads are now available in their stores nationwide.
