Alabama Baker Lands Distribution Deal With Walmart, Eyes Job Growth

An Alabama-grown business is optimistic about the future after landing a deal to sell its frozen pudding cake at Walmart stores across the country.

Coffee Baking Co., founded in 1996 in Don Holley's grandmother's farm house in southeast Alabama, reached an agreement in January to sell its Kinston-made frozen pudding cake at 300 Walmart stores.

Scott Markley, a spokesman for the big-box retailer, said the deal is part of Walmart's 2013 U.S. Manufacturing Commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in U.S. products to support American jobs over 10 years.
