Two entries scored an enviable 99.725 points on a 100-point scale during judging June 22 of the Wisconsin State Fair Cheese and Butter Contest at State Fair Park in West Allis.
Topping the contest by points were the brick by Matt Henze, Decatur Dairy, Brodhead, and the reduced-fat feta by Steve Webster, Klondike Cheese Company, Monroe.
In all, 403 entries — a record — were evaluated by a team of 10 judges under the direction of Mike Pederson, a cheese grader with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. The contest featured 28 classes.
