Grocery giant Hy-Vee is once again experimenting with a new type of store in metro Des Moines — this time aimed at the lucrative health industry.
With changes coming full tilt in the fast-moving food industry, the West Des Moines-based chain has been adding drug stores, convenience stores and a downtown "grocerant" to its stable of traditional grocery stores.
Its newest concept is a health market it plans to build at the corner of 156th Street and Meredith Drive in Urbandale, complete with a health food store, pharmacy, clinic and fitness studio — and, yes, groceries as well.
