ORLANDO, FL – Produce for Kids and Shuman Produce have partnered with Macaroni Kid for the Macaroni Kid Cooking Challenge (MKCC) taking place in Southampton, NY on May 7. The two-month digital campaign kicked off on March 1 and will commence when six junior chef finalists face off in-person creating on-the-spot healthy recipes using Shuman’s RealSweet® Vidalia® Onions among other MKCC sponsors.
“With Vidalia season kicking off on April 12, this event couldn’t have come at a more perfect time,” said Shuman Produce president and Produce for Kids founder, John Shuman. “We believe that getting kids in the kitchen at a young age and teaching them the importance of fruits and veggies is integral in creating a healthier generation and increasing the consumption of fresh produce.”
Macaroni Kid, a hyper-local digital publishing company, engages with more than 2 million families across 5,000 communities in 47 states. During the digital promotion of the campaign, both Produce for Kids and Shuman Produce were prominently featured on the national Macaroni Kid website garnering more than 1 million impressions and promoted in social media interactions throughout the Macaroni Kid network of publishers.
Ten Macaroni Kid publishers within the RealSweet® Vidalia® Onion distribution area will be posting their own family-friendly healthy recipes to their websites and sharing on their social media outlets over the coming two weeks leading up to the competition.
At the event, on-the-spot dishes will be tasted and voted on by a team of celebrity judges, and two lucky kids will win the title of MKCC Champion. Produce for Kids and RealSweet join sponsors Cuisinart and Eggland’s Best in partnering for the MKCC.
Produce for Kids and Shuman Produce will have a display area at the event where families can pick up recipes and materials to help get their families eating healthy.
Spectators are welcome to watch the show and the first 120 families to arrive will receive a complimentary gift bag.
