Tavares' Gold Meat Sausage Factory Bringing Brazilian Flavors

TAVARES — A Brazilian sausage maker has taken over an old ice plant in hopes of making it the headquarters for South American flavored meats in the United States.

After Brazilian meat maker Cajuru Alimentos set up shop in September in Lake County, the American subsidiary Gold Meat has pushed into a handful of major ethnic grocery chains with an eye on mainstream supermarkets.

The company opened the facility in Florida to try to get its products onto American supermarket shelves with a new tasting product that’s already popular in Central and South America.
