H.E. Butt Grocery Co. is planning to give away 250,000 reusable shopping bags on Earth Day 2010 at H-E-B stores across Texas.
H-E-B will give away the bags between 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22. The regional grocery company is also planning to eliminate 1.5 million plastic bags from circulation.
“We want to reinforce our enthusiasm for going green and encourage our shoppers to do the same,” says Susan Ghertner, director of environmental affairs. “By giving away 250,000 reusable bags, we are making it possible for people to make a positive difference when it comes to the environment.”
