Klondike Cheese Co. Takes Five 1st-Place Awards

MONROE, Wis. — Klondike Cheese Company earned several significant awards at the 2017 United States Championship Cheese Contest including five first place honors, and they swept the top-three finisher spots in two categories.

Klondike’s commitment to producing high quality, authentic and consistent products is paying off in droves. Best of Class honors went to Odyssey® Feta, Mediterranean Herb Feta, fat free Feta, vanilla Greek yogurt and Swisconsin® Brick.

Placing second in their categories were 10% Greek yogurt, pomegranate acai Greek yogurt, dill havarti and brick. Third place awards went to raspberry Greek yogurt, peppercorn feta and brick. In total, Klondike received 11 top-three accolades, and swept the brick/muenster and high protein, flavored yogurt categories.

“We began making Greek yogurt only five years ago and are thrilled to see how well it has been received by the judges and in the marketplace,” stated Luke Buholzer, vice president of sales at Klondike Cheese Company. “Our feta products have a long tradition of being award-wining which is in thanks to the high quality milk from our patron farmers as well as our entire staff and five Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers who take great pride in making sure quality is always top priority.”

The U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, held March 7-8 in Green Bay, Wisconsin and hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, is the largest technical cheese, butter and yogurt competition in the United States and has been held biennially since 1981. A record setting 2,303 cheeses, butters and yogurts from 33 states were entered for technical evaluation.
