UNITED FRESH 2010, Las Vegas, Nev. – April 20, 2010 – Purfresh, a provider of clean technologies that purify, protect, and preserve our food and water, today announced at United Fresh 2010 in Las Vegas a new release of Intellipur®—the company’s next-generation informatics service. Intellipur now includes enhanced tracking, additional notifications and alerts, and features “intelligent traceability” which furthers the produce industry’s traceability efforts. Designed to integrate with, and enhance the value of, the company’s Purfresh® Transport solution, the latest release of Intellipur raises the bar for information transparency and offers a previously unattainable level of insight into, and control over, the conditions of produce being shipped in refrigerated marine containers. With Intellipur’s enhanced risk management capabilities, everyone—from the exporter to the consumer—benefits from augmented traceability, fewer losses, and safer, higher-quality produce.
“Delivering food to the world involves a complex global supply chain that encompasses many segments and players,” said Mr. David Cope, president and CEO of Purfresh. “One of the most important and longest segments of this supply chain is ocean transportation. Unfortunately, this segment comes with high risk and limited visibility. As admirable as the industry’s traceability efforts are, the current methods are not designed to address the very conditions that determine food quality and safety in transit. Purfresh addresses these needs with Intellipur.”
The Intellipur informatics service now offers:
Geo-Fencing: Intellipur now supports geo-fences—borders around specific longitude and latitude locations. Subscribers can request to receive automatic notifications throughout a container’s voyage—such as at port departure and/or port arrival—based on either user-defined geo-fences or prebuilt geo-fences, which cover every major port around the world. With these new tracking features, subscribers can more closely track the progress of the voyage and stay apprised of location-based events from anywhere in the world.
Intelligent Traceability: Intellipur subscribers now have the ability to link produce lot numbers with booking, trip, and container details. Traditional traceability methods provide only minimal information about a shipment, such as the type of produce and its owner. With Intellipur, however, produce type and ownership data can be linked with other critical information to provide more in-depth information about the produce and the conditions under which it was transported. Intellipur’s “intelligent traceability” makes it is possible to find out where the produce traveled during the voyage, how it was treated inside the container, and when specific events happened during a trip.
Additional On-Trip Alarms and Alerts: Using advanced communication methods, Intellipur provides real-time monitoring of the container during the entire voyage. In the latest Intellipur release, Purfresh has extended the menu of on-trip notifications and now provides automatic notifications for on-trip events such as power off, door open, and communication failures. With on-trip load monitoring, Intellipur users can minimize damage and loss by resolving issues, such as incorrect vent settings or unplanned power-off events, in port or out at sea before the cargo is compromised.
The new advanced capabilities of Intellipur extend the feature set of the prior release, which included real-time GPS location, comprehensive trip reports, and temperature out-of-range alerts. The Intellipur service is available on a subscription basis.
Company personnel will be demonstrating the software in booth 1058 and in the United Fresh 2010 Traceability Pavilion.
