Viva Fresh Expo Announces Dynamic Keynote Duo: Dr. David & Catherine Katz To Present

Mission, Texas – Back by popular demand, Dr. David Katz is returning to Austin as keynote speaker of the Viva Fresh Expo, but this time he’s sharing the stage with his accomplished wife and author, Catherine Katz, PhD. Together this power couple will share their personal and professional experience with nutrition, preventive medicine and healthy eating.

Dr. Katz is best known for his work with Preventive Medicine and his wife Catherine puts this work into practice through Cuisinicity.com, a collection of healthy recipes that have been widely featured on national media including ABC News, O Magazine, Shape, Fitness and many more. The result is an approach to optimal eating they refer to as “loving food that loves you back.”

The Keynote Luncheon will be held on Friday, April 21 starting at 11:30 am. This interactive session will showcase a sensory experience with French native Catherine Katz sharing her food Mediterranean-style philosophy and tips while preparing dishes in a live demonstration that highlights cooking with fruits and vegetables. The luncheon menu during the keynote will also feature some of Catherine’s favorite Cuisinicity recipes.

Bret Erickson, TIPA President and CEO remarked, “Dr. Katz received rave reviews two years ago during our inaugural expo in Austin. We are thrilled to have him back and to amplify his powerful message by adding Catherine to the stage to showcase her talent for cooking and passion for healthy food.” Erickson continued, “This will be a unique, foodie experience with a powerful message that not only focuses on the positive impacts to our own health but to the overall health of our general population.”

In addition to her many media contributions, Catherine holds a BA in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and a PhD in neuroscience from Princeton University with additional post-doctoral training at Princeton. She is the co-author, with David, of ‘The Flavor Full Diet’ (Rodale, 2005), and a contributor to several other books and programs including Nutrition Detectives™, a food label literacy program used by thousands of schools all over the world.

Dr. David Katz is the founding director of Yale University's Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center, and is now immediate past-president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He is the principal inventor of the NuVal nutritional guidance system, currently in approximately 2,000 U.S. supermarkets in more than 30 states, coast to coast and a highly published author and contributor to leading textbooks in both Preventive Medicine, and nutrition.

His extensive media portfolio includes having worked for ABC News/Good Morning America as an on-air contributor, a writer for the New York Times syndicate, and a columnist to O, the Oprah Magazine. Currently, he is a blogger/medical review board member for the Huffington Post, a health contributor to U.S. News & World Report.
