MADISON, ME – Backyard Farms, the largest grower of year-round tomatoes in New England, announced it has appointed Tony Stevens as Head Grower. Mr. Stevens has 18 years of greenhouse growing experience and was most recently a Senior Grower with Windset Farms in Santa Maria, CA. As Head Grower of Backyard Farms’ 42-acre greenhouse in Madison, he will oversee the entire growing operation to ensure the consistent, year-round quality of Backyard Farms tomatoes.

Mr. Stevens has held senior leadership positions at other commercial greenhouses including hydroponic tomato producer Colorado Greenhouse, Eurofresh Farms and Nature Sweet Farms. “I’m excited to have been entrusted to maintain Backyard Farms’ reputation for excellence while exploring new ways to make our greenhouse as efficient and productive as possible.” Mr. Stevens said. “I truly admire the company-wide commitment to quality and taste.”
Mr. Stevens earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics/Agriculture Business from the University of Wyoming. In 2005, he received the Vortus Award where he was recognized by Vortus Consulting as the top grower in North America.
