WORCESTER – After more than four years of vacancy, the former Nissen Baking Co. facility at 983 Millbury St. has had a new resident as of August: Duva Distributors, a private, independent distributor of prepackaged baked goods whose sales range from 70 percent wholesale to 30 percent retail.
Originally located in Shrewsbury in a co-owned building, it became apparent that as more and more bakeries' lines were added, more space would be necessary for Duva Distributors to flourish.
"We thought about putting an addition on that building and then I saw this building come up as available and it was just a no-brainer," said Chris Duva, Duva Distributors' CEO and president since April 1997.
