It’s hard to miss the changes that are taking place at Homestead Creamery as recently installed steel beams loom over the existing production facility along Virginia 122 in Burnt Chimney.
Last week, Homestead Creamery President Donnie Montgomery and Mike Grisetti, vice president of operations, talked about those changes, as well as the challenge to continue producing milk, butter, ice cream and seasonal favorites, such as eggnog and custard, throughout the process.
“We can’t be down because we can’t afford it,” Grisetti said.
That’s meant a shifting of offices and storage space to accommodate the construction. “Every day you don’t know what the obstacle is going to be,” Grisetti said.
