EAGLE, ID — It’s a wrap! The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) has announced the winners of its Idaho® Potato Video Contest. Participants were given a chance to win up to $3,000 by submitting a short video to one of three categories — “MASHED!” (culinary demos), “Anytime/Anywhere” (general spud love), or “At the Truck” (scenes at the Big Idaho® Potato Truck).
“Video is fast becoming the preferred medium for news and entertainment,” explained Frank Muir, President and CEO, IPC. “We know there are countless Idaho® potato fans across the country and we wanted to see just how creative they could get in front of the camera. We’re very pleased with the response and are excited to share the winning entries through the IPC’s social media channels.”
Consumers entered any one or all three categories:
- MASHED! is the IPC’s take on the hit Food Network show CHOPPED! Entrants recorded themselves creating a potato masterpiece using fresh, frozen and/or dehydrated Idaho® potatoes.
- MISH MASH or “Anytime/Anywhere” is a catch-all category for unique and imaginative entries showing how tater fans express their spud love.
- “At The Truck” is for those who were lucky enough to see the Big Idaho® Potato Truck live and in-person during the contest period, and able to film a short video with it.
And the winners are…
MASHED!
- 1st Place: Brock Cutler (Lehi, UT)—“Idaho® Potato Cinnamon Rolls”
ANYTIME/ANYWHERE
- 1st Place: Andrew Garcia (Nampa, ID)—“Spudward Bound”
AT THE TRUCK
- 1st Place: Roxanne Watson (Nanuet, NY)—“Nanuet Organ Donation Event”
The entries were judged 100% on creativity. The Grand Prize winner of each category received $1,000 and the six runners up (two in each category) received a swag bag and a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho® potatoes. The first ten online submissions also received a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho® potatoes.
The IPC wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who entered the contest.
