Terra Nova Nurseries Introduces Newest TERRA NOVA Collection Varieties

Canby, Ore. – Terra Nova Nurseries announced today a sneak peek of three new varieties: Coleus TERRA NOVA® ‘Allspice’, Coleus TERRA NOVA® ‘Lavish Lime’ and Coleus TERRA NOVA® ‘Lumen’. These varieties are the newest additions to the company’s TERRA NOVA® Collection.

Pushing the genetic envelope, the TERRA NOVA Collection offers brilliant breeding breakthroughs of color and form. The collection’s coleus varieties are well-branched, excellent replacements for impatiens, and they have hardiness zones of 10-11. PGRs are neither required, nor recommended.

The new Coleus TERRA NOVA ‘Allspice’ is a vigorous spreading plant, with narrow khaki and green-gold leaves showcasing dark maroon centers. It has been bred to have a large, luxurious and mounding habit, with a foliage height of 16” and foliage spread of 30”.

Coleus TERRA NOVA ‘Lavish Lime’ offers a tight, mounding spread and displays lime-green, leaves marked with burgundy. Its foliage height of 14” and foliage spread of 18” make it ideal for bright color spots in the garden.

As its name suggests, Coleus TERRA NOVA ‘Lumen’ provides vibrant, bright illumination for the landscape, with its lime-green leaves punctuated with cream centers. Like ‘Lavish Lime’, it has an attractive foliage height of 14” and foliage spread of 18”. This variety has a medium mounding habit.

The three varieties contain a fast growth rate and finish time of 4” in three to four weeks and are self-branching. Landscape values include use as a ground cover and in hanging baskets, mixed containers, large pots, mass beds, and summer borders. They also serve well as colorful houseplants. These varieties are well-suited for regions with heat and humidity such as the Deep South, and they thrive in shade to part shade. Well-drained soil with moderate organic content is required.

Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to each of these new varieties so growers can learn more about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team.
