Target is about to start remodeling 30 of its Dallas-Fort Worth stores to reflect its new grocery strategy: to be a convenient grocery shop vs. trying to be a full-service grocer for a one-stop shopper.
New lighting, fixtures and shelves will reflect a different feel from the rest of the store. Those aisles are being redesigned to look more like a grocery store, Target said, with a message that groceries are fresher and more attuned to what shoppers want.
The changes follow a test in Los Angeles earlier this year, but Dallas is the only market that's getting a major grocery overhaul for now. The local remodels will continue into 2017, said Target spokeswoman Katie Boylan. As Target opens new stores and others are remodeled, those locations will also have the new grocery look.
