It’s Easter Egg – Made Of Cheese!

They thought he was yoke-ing – but one mans search for a cheesy alternative to the traditional chocolate Easter egg is on the verge of starting a national trend.

Cheese-ter eggs are rolling out of more than 370 branches of Asda nationwide following an eggs-traordinary request from Bournemouth man, Mark Hazard.

Recalling the disappointment of girlfriend, Emily Wilson, 27, in previous years, Mark, 30, whey-ed his options before enlisting the supermarkets help in his bid to replace chocolate with cheese at Easter.

Emilys cheese mad and would much rather eat cheese and crackers than a bar of chocolate. Last Easter, she received so many chocolate eggs and said how great it would be to get an egg made out of her favourite cheese, he said.

This year, I thought Id approach Asda about it and see what they said.

Egged on by Marks unusual request, big cheeses from the supermarket chain got cracking on a design for the worlds first Cheese-ter egg.

Choc full of enthusiasm for the project, Alex Bradbury the firms cheese buyer, sent producer Norseland scrambling to roll out an egg made from Emilys favourite cheddar cheese.

Eager not to put all his eggs in one basket, Mr Bradbury also commissioned an egg made from Wensleydale cheese with cranberries, caramel, and organic maple syrup.

Thanks to Emilys passion for cheese, weve managed to create a fantastic new Easter product for customers like Emily who prefer the savoury to the sweet, he said.

An egg-static Emily celebrated an early Easter with a special delivery from supermarket bosses, which saw her bespoke gift arrive wrapped in cellophane and ribbon.

The 100g waxed cheese eggs are on sale now and cost 1.
