BRATTLEBORO, VT. – Commonwealth Dairy has been chosen as the sole supplier of 32 oz. Greek yogurt for the USDA National School Lunch Program for October until December 2016. Schools participating in the program are based in California, Mississippi and Vermont. Commonwealth Dairy, based in Vermont, will also supply the Vermont schools participating in the program later this August, a bid awarded earlier this year.
USDA continuous to include Greek Yogurt as one of the food products schools are allowed to consider when spending federal money on the national school lunch program. Commonwealth Dairy has been actively involved and participated in all bids since the start of the program.
Commonwealth Dairy, manufacturer of Green Mountain Creamery Greek yogurt brand, will supply 27,888 pounds of Greek Yogurt to schools in Vermont, California and Mississippi between October and December.
"One of our main goals is to be involved with the community and this program is a way for us to bring our healthy yogurt not only to students, but to schools", said Commonwealth Dairy’s Director of Business Development Alfons van Heerwaarden.
"Greek yogurt is a great source of protein and dairy for children in schools," said van Heerwaarden.
