Salinas, CA – The Grower-Shipper Association of Central California (GSA) will premiere their documentary film “Historical Narratives of Salinas Valley Agriculture” on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at Corral de Tierra Country Club (81 Corral de Tierra Road, Corral de Tierra, CA 93908). This premiere event will include wine and appetizers, followed by the viewing of the feature-length film. This film project was the idea of past-GSA Chairman Henry Dill of Pacific International Marketing, and came from his desire to preserve the rich history of our local agriculture industry.
GSA has been working on this film project over the past eight months with members of Hartnell College’s Film Production class. This film captures the stories of Salinas Valley agriculture, as told by the pioneers who lived it. Throughout the filming for this project, GSA interviewed sixteen ag industry veterans, including: Jack Armstrong, Jim Bogart, Ed Boutonnet, Andy D'Arrigo, Carl Dobler, Denny Donovan, Ed Given, Bill Gularte, Raymond Gularte, Tom Hubbard, Lloyd Koster, Vic Lanini, Bob Nunes, Tom Nunes, Bill Ramsey and Hugo Tottino. During the viewing of this educational documentary film audience members will learn about the history of our local ag industry through the first-hand accounts of amazing individuals who spent their lives building and shaping Salinas Valley agriculture.
