Wright County supervisors are considering giving Prestage Farms an $8 million tax break over a decade if the North Carolina company builds its proposed $240 million pork processing plant south of Eagle Grove.
The tax rebate is about 30 percent of Prestage's $2.7 million annual property tax bill, said Bryce Davis, Wright County's economic development director. The rebate would not exceed $8 million over 10 years.
The tax rebate is based on a plant minimum assessment of about $100 million, said Davis, who outlined the development agreement to about 100 people attending the supervisors' meeting Monday.
