If you haven't heard of Hofmann sausages, you are about to.
Syracuse, N.Y.-based Hofmann Sausage Co. quietly opened its first Hofmann Brands corporate office six months ago at 16 E. Lombard St. downtown. The company has been making sausages and hot dogs in New York for 137 years and recently started to expand.
Hofmann currently offers products in a range of states, including Florida and Texas. Along the East Coast, the company has partnerships with Wegmans and Harris Teeter.
Reginald Bailey, CEO of Hofmann Sausage, said Baltimore seemed like a natural expansion with a similar feel to Syracuse and a connection to surrounding markets, such as Washington, D.C.
