Dungeness Crab Sells For $2.90 A Pound

SAN FRANCISCO — It’s official–the local Dungeness crab season is on and crab will be back on restaurant tables soon.

Crews at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf were getting the crab pots hoisted up and loaded on the boats, ready to go to sea and take advantage of what is left of the season.

Crab fishermen headed out as soon as the price was set at $2.90 a pound, and there were plenty of boats to follow.

The season was delayed for months because state officials said the crabs were not safe to eat earlier because of a domoic acid bloom in the ocean.
