Keeping step with other area grocers, Fresh Market said this week it will transition to a supply of 100 percent cage-free eggs by 2020.
The Greensboro-based grocery chain said all its private brand eggs are already cage-free, and that 86 percent of its total current offering is sourced from cage-free hens.
“Our customers have responded positively to the increasing number of cage-free, pasture-raised, and organic options in our shell egg offering,” Pamela Kohn, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Fresh Market, said in a statement.
