LINDSAY – Mariposa Dairy is continuing to ensure long-term growth in the goat cheese industry by welcoming Gay Lea Foods as a minority partner in the Lindsay-based company.
Delegates at Gay Lea Foods’ annual meeting also recently approved bylaw changes to expand and open membership to include dairy goat producers as members of the co-operative.
“Strategically, this is a great move to ensure long-term growth in the goat cheese category and bring new farms into processing goats’ milk for the sustainability of the significant demand in this category,” stated Paul Blake, President of Finica Food Specialties, the company that markets exclusively all of the goat cheese produced at Mariposa Dairy across Canada; the parent company Atalanta, distributes the same produce in the U.S.
