Editor’s note: GreenVic has extended its match campaign until Friday, March 19.
Greenvic, a leading Chilean produce exporter, announces campaign to raise money to build homes for victims of the February 27, 2009 earthquake and tsunami in Chile. Greenvic will match 50% of all of the funds raised by Friday March 12, 2010. However, donations received after that date will still be used to purchase homes for those affected by the February 27, 2009 earthquake.
These funds will be used to purchase modular homes through La Fundacin CasaBsica (www.casabasica.cl).
These modular homes will be sent to the coastal zone of San Fernando, where Greenvic employees will be involved directly in the building process.
I was in South America during and after the earthquake and tsunami. The damages in Chile are devastating, said David Posner, CEO of Awe Sum Organics, Inc. in Capitola. We were eager to support Greenvics campaign and encourage others to do the same. By acting swiftly to this request, we know our donation will have a significant impact on those that have suffered from this terrible event. We are so happy to have an opportunity to directly contribute to the relief effort.
Greenvic hopes to raise enough funds to build 100 homes. They have already collected US$148,000 (including Greenvics own contributions). Results of this campaign can be viewed at www.greenvic.cl/help.
Due to the urgent need to begin rebuilding, the match program will end on Friday, March 12, 2009. However, donations received after that date will still be used to purchase homes for those affected by the February 27, 2009 earthquake.
