Switrace To Showcase Online Data Logging Innovations At Fruit Logistica 2016

Mendrisio, Switzerland – SWITRACE SA, the global supplier of temperature and humidity data loggers for the cold chain industry, will be present at the upcoming Fruit Logistica 2016 to showcase a new innovation for exporters – a data logger that can be tracked through a web browser.

Available in single and multi use versions, SWITRACE’s I-PLUG TH humidity data logger – 100% made in Switzerland – delivers a new solution for exporters wishing to follow the progress of fresh produce shipments, as it can be viewed wherever there is internet access.

Humidity recordings are uploaded by the device to an online platform, from where they can be accessed, read and shared by users, meaning accurate information regarding the state of fresh produce in transit is available to exporters and receivers from source to destination.

SWITRACE sales and marketing director Patrick Poulet said: “What makes the I-PLUG TH different from other devices is that you view the recordings through your web browser – recordings are sent to the cloud as soon as the device is read by a computer.”

“Then you can read the device online and share the information with colleagues or just keep the recordings on the database for audit purposes.”

SWITRACE has also completely redesigned the platform of its standard I-PLUG pdf logger to extend its memory capacity to up to 30,000 readings, while also incorporating a latest generation temperature and humidity digital sensor. An impressively accurate device, the I-PLUG TH logger is able to record humidity from the lowest to highest levels and boasts a very fast response time.

“Humidity levels are a very important parameter for growers and exporters – with I-PLUG TH, this parameter can be monitored during transport to determine fresh product shelf life,” explained Patrick.

“We have issued single and multi use version to meet market requirements, aimed at offering a very affordable product with a real Swiss quality – the result is very promising and initial customer feedback has been good.”

Real-time monitoring

A further recent innovation that will be highlighted by SWITRACE at Fruit Logistica 2016 will be the I-NET system, a real-time monitoring solution for cold stores, glasshouses and packhouses.

Connected to the internet via a built-in 3G SIM card, the I-NET system automatically sends temperature and humidity recordings to a web-based platform. Through the system, customers can receive immediate warnings by SMS, email or phone if temperature or humidity readings reach critical levels.

Users can access information direct from the cold store in real time through a touch screen, while the data history can be viewed through any internet-connected computer or tablet.

Temperature and humidity sensors are connected to the main unit with standard ethernet wires, as most of time it is difficult to access wifi in cold stores, explained Patrick. However, SWITRACE will have a new, 100% wifi-enabled version of I-NET available by mid 2016 that includes wireless temperature and humidity sensors as well.

“All data from the system is stored on a secure database in Switzerland as we take reliability, security and confidentiality very seriously,” added Patrick.

Having already completed I-NET installations in Latin America and the Middle East, SWITRACE is aiming to secure further contacts across Europe and is also seeking distributors for its range worldwide.

SWITRACE will be exhibiting at Fruit Logistica 2016 from 3-5 February 2016 at the Berlin ExpoCenter City, Messe Berlin, Germany in Hall 21 A-07.
