Flooding And Red Tide Take A Toll On Apalachicola Oyster Industry

APALACHICOLA, Fla. – For TJ Ward of 13 Mile Seafood, his family's seafood shop in Apalachicola is one laden with all sorts of catches, from shellfish to fresh fillets.

"My family has been in the seafood business since 1929, and has had this company since 1957," Ward said. "It's just nice to grow up by the water, and see a working waterfront really."

Throughout the years, he said oysters have been the city's most popular catch.
