Washington, DC – The Shrimp Council welcomes Liberty Seafood as the latest member of its joint marketing campaign. The addition of the Pennsylvania importing company brings council membership to eleven members, further strengthening the council’s mission of raising category visibility and increasing shrimp consumption.
With an emphasis on sustainable, natural seafood items especially chemical free shrimp and other natural farm and ocean raised fish selections, Liberty Seafood distinguishes their products by their sourcing. Liberty’s diverse offerings include wild caught and farmed shrimp from trusted partners and BAP certified farms and plants that have passed Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) audits in South America and Asia.
“Liberty Seafood is a new company with decades of experience,” said President Mark McCloskey. “Our veteran team has crafted their ideal seafood company placing quality and integrity at its core. We are excited to incorporate the Shrimp Council into Liberty’s identity.”
Liberty Seafood’s inclusion in the Shrimp Council comes at a time when the promotional group seeks to expand its scope and activities. The Shrimp Council promotes shrimp as a delicious and versatile protein through year-round marketing initiatives. Utilizing food bloggers, print publications and social media, the Shrimp Council encourages shrimp devotees and new fans to eat more of their favorite seafood.
“Shrimp is the number one consumed seafood in America,” said Shrimp Council Chairman Bill Dresser. “The Shrimp Council works to ensure that it remains the go-to seafood item for Lenten meals, football tailgates and holiday parties. We need more companies like Liberty Seafood to invest in shrimp and help us diversify our consumer communication reach.”
The Shrimp Council has several levels of memberships available for all types of seafood companies. Companies with an interest in joining are to reach out to Judy Dashiell or Richard Barry at the National Fisheries Institute.
