Minneapolis' Franklin Street Bakery Will Shutter Its Retail Store

Franklin Street Bakery, a two-decade-old business that's become a fixture in south Minneapolis, is closing its retail location this week to focus more on its wholesale operations.

Franklin Street, a unit of Edina-based Cuisine Concepts, announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that Friday would be the last day for the retail shop at 1020 E. Franklin Ave.

In a statement, owners Wayne Kostroski and Mark Haugen said the company's growing wholesale bread business requires "both additional space and work force. As grateful as we are for this growth, it has become necessary for us to make the difficult decision to close the retail store and re-purpose the space for packaging more delicious bread."
